Body and Nerve Restoration is built from the foundation of Bowenwork, a muscle and connective tissue therapy, developed by the late Tom Bowen in Geelong, Australia. Sometimes called the homeopathy of bodywork, Bowen has a direct impact on the autonomic nervous system, stimulating the body to restore itself. A session consists of a series of focused movements in and around the nervous system.
Once a set of moves are completed, a break allows the recipient to integrate the information into the nervous system. Treatments can last anywhere from 45-90 minutes. Typically 3 sessions are needed to address structural or functional complaints. Bowen addresses the body as a whole unit rather than just the presenting symptoms. It is completely safe and appropriate for everyone, from newborns to the very frail.
Most diseases of physical health, including chronic diseases, are really diseases of the autonomic nervous system. -Steven Porges
To get the most from your sessions wear loose-fitting clothing such as sweatpants or shorts and a t-shirt. It is best to avoid other forms of bodywork (massage, chiropractic or acupuncture) 36 hours before and five days after a treatment.
